The first step on the journey to that flawless BBQ chicken pizza is the dough. Once you have your dough ready, place it is a bowl that has been coated with olive oil, cover it with plastic wrap and place it aside for the moment. In the meantime, you should preheat the oven to about 425 degrees Fahrenheit for about half an hour.
While the over heats up, take some parchment paper and coat it with olive oil. Place the pizza dough on paper and slowly roll it out into a 10-inch circle with your hands. Do this carefully so as to keep the dough together and make sure it is even. Place another piece of parchment paper over it and again place it aside for about 30 minutes. This is done to give the dough a chance to rise. Take this time to mix one teaspoon of olive oil along with about two tablespoons of the barbecue sauce of your choice.
Place your chicken in a baking dish and season it with salt and pepper according to your tastes. Evenly, brush the barbecue sauce mix over the chicken until it is covered. Bake the chicken for about twenty minutes. When it cools down a little cut it into half-inch cubes. Take out your pizza dough and if you have any of the barbecue sauce remaining, you can brush it over the dough. However, make sure you leave out a ¾ inch border. You can now, place the chicken cubes on your pizza base.
Now it is time for the toppings. The best toppings to go with barbecue chicken are red onion, Gouda, and mozzarella. Your pizza is now ready to be baked. Place the base on a baking sheet and put it in the oven. You should bake it until the crust turns golden and the cheese begins to melt. This would take about 20 to 25 minutes. Top it off with cilantro and your BBQ chicken pizza is ready to be served.
